ANITA MIEZE

Anita Mieze is a Latvian composer and visual artist. In 2008 she received the Master in Music – Composition at the Latvian Music Academy where she studied with prof. Selga Mence. Anita also studied at the Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel Hochschule für Musik with composer Roland Moser.

 

In 2006, Anita participated in the composition seminar with Jonathan Harvey organized by TENSO in Cassis, France. She was also an active participant in the electroacoustic workshop held by Mauro Lanza and Yan Maresz during the New Music Festival ARENA in Riga. Anita was awarded 2nd prize in the composition competition of the festival CULTURESCAPES 2006 in cooperation with Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel (for dans l’attente… plus de clarté).

 

In 2007, Anita took part in the Centre Acanthes workshop and worked under the artistic direction of Michael Jarrell, Yan Maresz and Marco Stroppa. She was an active participant in the Centre Acanthes workshops with Salvatore Sciarrino, Michèle Reverdy and Fabio Nieder in 2008 where her composition for symphony orchestra, Izgaismošana, was first performed by the Orchestre National de Lorraine with conductor Diego Masson. Anita was 2nd prize winner in the 4th Pre-Art compositions competition (Zürich 2008, for Gleichzeitigkeit). She participated in the Nachtstrom concert series organized by Elektronische Studio Basel in 2009 and 2010.
