At the age of six, Jakub began to play piano at the I. J. Paderewski Music School in Tarnów. At the age of thirteen, after graduating from the first level of music school, he continued his musical education at the same school in the double bass class under the leadership of Krzysztof Krawczyk. As a classical musician, he was a laureate of many competitions. During this time, he became interested in jazz music,and began working with local musicians.

After graduating from the Music High School in Tarnów, Jakub began his studies at the Faculty of Jazz and Music of the Academy of Music in Katowice in the class of Dr. Adam Kowalewski. During his studies, he became acquainted with many great musicians, with whom he has been working and recording albums to this day. Already in the course of his studies he had the pleasure of working with leading musicians from Poland and abroad: Urszula Dudziak, Krystyna Prońko, Mika Urbaniak, Janusz Muniak, Piotr Baron, Piotr Wyleżoł, Piotr Wojtasik, Maciej Sikla, Larry Livingston, Ernie Watts. Jakub has performed all over Poland as well as in Europe, Asia, and the United States.  He is a laureate of most the prestigious jazz awards in Poland. Currently, Jakub lives in Basel, where he improves his skills under the supervision of such musicians as Larry Grenadier and Mark Turner.  Jakub joined the faculty of the ICMS in 2018.
